Memorial Day “Tribute to Heroes Parade”, and festivities.

The Memorial Day, “Tribute to Heroes Parade” takes place on Lakewood Ranch Main Street from 5-9pm. Sunday May 26, 2013.

Come out to pay honor to those heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our countries freedom.

Manasota Operation Troops Support (MOTS) is our charity for the event.  We need your help to fill the truck with much needed toiletry and non-perishable food items. These simple but much needed items will be placed in care packages and sent overseas to our active military.  Letters will be placed in each packet to create a personal message of thanks, a note of appreciation, and a meaningful token, that our heroes are in our thoughts and admired for their sacrifice for freedom. These letters are shared and treasured by our troops, a small and much appreciated reminder of home. So please take time to make a donation and write a note of appreciation to our troops.

The event will kick off at 5pm with Speeches and acknowledgements from the stage. The streets’ festivities will include face painting, balloon artists, music, grilled foods and beverages.  The Tribute to Heroes Parade goes down Main Street starting at 6pm.  Our parade is growing more popular each year with over three dozen floats, bands, clubs and organizations in the procession. You won’t want to miss the Veteran’s Poppy reading, immediately following the parade, which is our “Tribute to Heroes”, followed by a beautiful white dove release, donated by Jackie Greenough of Sarasota Dove Release. We will provide a VIP Veterans viewing area for all our special guests.  Veteran’s can find this viewing area set up near the walkway, past the fountain.

American flags will be flowing proudly, along with many other sponsor and vendor booths with activities.
