REGISTER NOW FOR THE PARADE PROCESSION AND TO REGISTER your children in the Children’s Decorated Bike Contest. All who enter can be part of the parade procession as a group, we will have trophies for cutest, most patriotic and most creative decorating. All other residents are invited to join us waving your American flags and wearing your red, white and blue for the 6th annual community celebration of our fallen heroes, Tribute to Heroes Parade. The event will begin at 5pm and the celebration will continue through 9pm. We are expecting over 40 different organizations to participate in the parade. Floats, marching bands, ponies, Miss Lakewood Ranch, vintage cars and the local Hit Crew of Manatee County to name a few. After the parade be sure to gather around the stage for the beautiful dove release, singing of God Bless America and the VFW reading of, In Flanders Fields, a poem inspired by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, during his service in the 2nd Battle of Ypres. The fields were left unmaintained for years before they were made into a proper memorial. Today Flanders Fields is home to thousands of poppies. The street festivities that will continue until 9PM include music, face painting, refreshments and vendor booths. We are pleased to announce this year’s 2014 parade Grand Marshal to be John Breiner, Lakewood Ranch Entrepreneur, resident and parade founder. We will once again offer special VIP Veteran Viewing, which will be reserved seating for Veterans to enjoy the parade from. This seating will be located across the street from the Main Street Bazaar.
Proceeds from the parade once again benefit the Manasota Operations Troop Support, (MOTS). Day of the parade bring one of the following items,

MOTS will make sure our local Bradenton and Sarasota troops receive them.
We recommend you bring chairs or arrive early for seating on the side walk at one of our many Main Street restaurants. Well behaved pets on a short leash are welcome, and please leave your coolers at home. The parade route will begin promptly at 6PM at the top of the street by Polo Grill, past MacAllisters and stays to the right of the fountain toward Arts A Blaze and will circle left past the Veteran Viewing Area toward Ed’s Tavern and depart past the stage which will be set up in front of Pincher’s.
Children interested in participating in the decorated bike contest, can register by clicking now. They will be judged in the Region Bank Parking lot between 5:00 and 5:30pm. If your child arrives after 5:30pm they will not be considered for a trophy, however are welcomed to still join the children as one group in the parade procession. Parents or group leaders are responsible for their children at all times, including the staging area, in the parade procession, and at the conclusion of the parade. A parent, guardian or group leader MUST be present at the event at all times. No child may be “dropped off” or left unaccompanied at any time.
